如果是開車兜風，英文裡是用 go for a drive 這個片語 但若是騎機車則是 go for a ride 比如: Would you like to go for a drive in my new car? (你想搭我的新車一起去兜風嗎？)We went for a drive along the coast. (我們沿著海岸線開車兜風。)
She’s going for a ride on her boyfriend’s new motorcycle. (她要坐她男友的新重機去兜風。)
The couple went for a romantic drive around the lake. (這對情侶/夫妻在湖邊浪漫兜風。)
有些人不知道其實drive可以像這樣當名詞用 像我們可以說：It was a long drive home. (回家的車程很漫長。) 但是改用ride當名詞則表示是坐別人開的車(搭便車或計程車等) 所以 It was a long ride home. 則是說坐公車、火車、計程車或搭別人開的車回家這趟路很漫長 那如果是坐飛機的航程很漫長呢？ 這樣就要用 flight 這個名詞了 所以當你坐了很久的飛機才到家，或是時間沒有很久，但因某些因素讓你感到很痛苦不愉快(比如要轉很多次機或遇到不好的人/事) 就可以換成 It was a long flight home.
