heaven 和 paradise 這兩個字在中文裡都翻成”天堂”
但它們的用法也不一樣哦
人死後上的”天堂”是 heaven
也可以用來形容很美妙, 很棒的經驗或感受
像我們到了一個很棒的地方, 或是覺得很享受某事物時
就可以說 This is heaven! / I’m in heaven!
heaven 也有形容詞 heavenly
指的是很美妙的, 人間少有的
像 She has a heavenly voice.
The food is heavenly.
paradise 這個字其實是”人間仙境”的意思
人死後去的地方就不能叫 paradise
像旅遊廣告就常說某個地方是 tropical paradise (熱帶仙境)
而且它通常都是指地方, 不能指經驗
有很棒的事發生時, 只能說以上的 I’m in heaven! / This is heaven!
而不能說 This is paradise.
