有些生活中常用到的東西, 上英文課不見得學得到
比如一般英文教材大概都不會特別教 ”左上角, 右下角” 怎麼說
但日常生活中在描述位置時, 其實還蠻常要用到這個的
今天我們就一起來學吧!
首先, “上半部的” 是用 upper [ˋʌpɚ] 這個字
而 ”下半部的” 是用 lower [ˋloɚ] 這個字
把它們兩個和 ”左” (left), “右” (right) 組合後, 2 x 2 就有四個角落了
所以 ”左上角” 就是 the upper left (corner)
”右上角” 就是 the upper right (corner)
那 ”左下角” 呢? 沒錯, 就是 the lower left (corner)
而 ”右下角” 當然就是 the lower right (corner)
指 ”在...角落裡”, 由於 corner 這個字的關係, 介系詞用的是 in
比如在看一張照片時, 你可以說:
My sister is the girl in the upper right (corner).
(我姐就是右上角那個女生)
或是問店員: May I take a look at the watch in the lower left (corner)?
(我可以看一下左下角那只手錶嗎?)
或是跟醫生說: The lower right side of my back really hurts.
(我背部的右下方很痛)
但是用 side 這個字的話, 介系詞就要用 on 了
所以上面那句話也可以說: I have pain on the lower right side of my back.
