因為中文裡的"結婚"也有兩種意思
一種是指完成結婚手續, 比如"她是去年結婚的"
另一種是指已婚的狀態, 如"我結婚了", "他們結婚五年了"
在英文裡更麻煩
因為 marry 這個字是個原形動詞, 意思是"嫁", "娶", 或"結婚"--舉行結婚儀式
所以"他娶了交往十年的女友": He married his girlfriend of ten years.
"他們上個月結婚了": They married last month.
不過舉行結婚儀式另一個較常用的說法是: get married
所以 They married last month. = They got married last month.
另外還有: tie the knot, walk down the aisle 這些說法
而表示"已婚"的身份或狀態則要用 be 動詞 + married
此時的 married 是形容詞"已婚的", "結婚的"
所以"她結婚了" 就是 She is married.
"你結婚了嗎?"-- Are you married?
"他們結婚十年了"-- They have been married for ten years.
"你結婚多久了?"-- How long have you been married?
"一位已婚婦女/男士"-- a married woman / man
