但若別人家中有人死亡, 要請對方 ”節哀” 的英文怎麼說呢?
其實並不難
”節哀” 在英文裡是說 My condolences. (複數)
condolence [kənˋdoləns] 這個字本來就是弔唁, 慰問的意思
但是和 ”恭喜” 一樣, 在使用時要用複數
也可以說:
My condolences go out to the families that lost their loved ones in the earthquake.
要注意的是, My condolences 只能用在家中有人死亡
如果是發生別的不幸事件, 只要說 I’m sorry (to hear) about what happened.
另外也可以說 My sympathies. [ˋsɪmpəθiz]
但那是比較正式, 不帶感情的說法
