”半夜” 的正確說法有好幾種
可以用 late at night
或是 in the middle of the night
甚至 early in the morning (凌晨)
但這其實和每個人的作息時間有關, 是主觀的說法, 並不精確
當然 in the middle of the night 對於一般人來說會是半夜兩三點
(指 ”睡覺睡到一半” 的時間)
可是像 late at night 也有可能是晚上十一二點
因為對於某些人來說, 那樣就夠晚了
而 early in the morning 則也有可能是指早上的五六點
結論是, 如果你要指半夜兩三點, 就可以放心地用 in the middle of the night
像你如果說: I woke up in the middle of the night.
聽到的人就會想像是半夜兩三點
不然你就最好把到底幾點講清楚
比如: She called me at 4:00 A.M. / four in the morning.
另外還有 deep in the night 這個說法
雖然也是 ”深夜” 之意
但只有在歌曲或詩裡才比較會出現
