”酒駕” 基本的說法叫 drunk driving
比如: He was arrested for drunk driving. (他因為酒駕被捕)
The accident was caused by drunk driving.
在美國, 常可以聽到 DUI 或 DWI 這兩個說法, 也在指酒駕
DUI 是 driving under the influence 的縮寫
這裡所謂的 influence (影響) 指的是酒精的影響
而 DWI 則是 driving while intoxicated 的縮寫
字面上的意思是 ”在酒醉的情況下開車”
這兩個說法都是酒駕的法律罪名
所以也可以說 He was arrested for DUI / DWI.
至於酒駕的處罰, 如果是被罰暫時不能開車
會說 have/get someone’s driver’s license suspended
比如: He was charged with DUI and had (=got) his license suspended for three months.
如果累犯最後被永久吊銷駕照, 則是把 suspended 換成 revoked
例如: His driver’s license got revoked due to a series of traffic violations.
