中文裡說 ”眼睛吃冰淇淋”
但在英文裡是 ”眼睛吃糖果” eye candy 而且要用名詞而不是動詞的形式
不過, 英文裡的 eye candy 不能用來指某個人或物
而是整體的視覺享受, 養眼的畫面
所以我們不能說 She is eye candy. (注意 candy 一般為不可數名詞)
但是可以說: Jack likes going to the beach for all the eye candy.
(Jack 是為了看清涼養眼的畫面而喜歡去海邊)
或是: Jack ignored us at the pub because of all the eye candy.
一定要說某個人或某個東西是很好看的
要說是 a piece of eye candy
比如: Rebecca is a real piece of eye candy in that dress.
現在不論是台灣的 ”水果日報” 或國 外的一些網站, 都會每天刊登一些美女的照片
那就叫 eye candy of the day
反過來, 看了 讓人覺得很礙眼的東西, 叫 eye sore 它是可數名詞, 而且可以直接用來講一個人或物
sore 本來的意思是 ”疼痛”, “痠痛”
讓人看了覺得 ”哇, 眼睛好痛!” 的東西就是在視覺上很不討喜的人或物囉~
我們可以說: That old coffee table is such an eye sore.
或是: Bill has become an eye sore with his newly grown goatee.
(Bill 最近留的山羊鬍讓他看起來很礙眼)
