居然以為它是稱讚別人的意思
所以要來好好澄清一下
“Nice try!” 這句話千萬不要把它照字面直譯, 解釋成 ”試得好!” 這種意思
它不是稱讚別人的一句話, 反而是嘲諷別人企圖達到某種目的卻失敗且白費工夫的意思
比如說有人想向你借錢, 卻編了一個一聽就知道是謊話的理由
你就可以說 Nice try!
在熟人之間使用通常是開玩笑的口氣
是說”你有勇氣做這樣的嘗試很好, 但可惜沒成功/沒得逞” 的意思
要稱讚別人的話, 就說 Good job / Great job!
但千萬別說 Nice try!
上禮拜幫一個兒童英語教材錄音, 結果稿子上明明是在小朋友覆誦完單字後講句話稱讚他們
但英文不夠好的編寫者卻寫了句 Nice try!
這樣反而變成是在傷小朋友自尊心的話了
所以大家記得了, “Nice try!” 是生活中很常用到的一句話
